We Are Community Mental Health

We're in your community, serving your neighbors and loved ones who live with mental illness, addiction, and developmental disabilities. Our 21 community mental health providers are located across Alabama and serve people from across the state, employing more than 5,200 people and assisting more than 115,000 individuals a year with counseling, day treatment, outpatient, inpatient, and residential services.

Serving Alabama since 1972

The Alabama Council of Community Mental Health Boards was incorporated in 1972 and has represented the state's community mental health providers for more than 50 years, acting as a liaison between our members, the Alabama Department of Mental Health, the State Legislature, and the federal government.

Our Mission

The Alabama Council of Community Mental Health Boards represents its members in the planning, development, and implementation of a comprehensive system of public mental health care for the people of Alabama.

Our Vision

The Community Mental Health System in Alabama will be recognized as the nation's premiere network of dynamic and innovative public mental healthcare.

A voice for providers and the people they serve

We advocate for those who provide mental health services and those who receive care, keeping community mental health, substance use, and IDD services in front of policymakers as new leaders take office in Montgomery.
